Energy Storage for a Sustainable Future: Revolution or Evolution?

Renewable energy expert Ilan Gur will present a general introduction to battery technology and a comprehensive overview of challenges and opportunities shaping the development of battery solutions for electric vehicles and larges scale renewable energy storage.

Gur holds a doctorate in materials science and engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, where his research focused on the creation and integration of nanostructured materials for the development of ultra low-cost solar cells. Ilan¹s work at Berkeley led to key scientific contributions which have served as a basis for Solexant, a startup aimed at enabling grid-parity thin film photovoltaics. Turning his attention from energy generation to storage, Ilan co-founded and now serves on the executive team at Seeo, a venture backed company developing a new generation of lithium batteries. Ilan has developed and co-taught graduate courses on the technologies and markets of photovoltaics and advanced batteries. He works passionately to develop, promote, and commercialize clean energy technologies that realize the incredible potential for novel materials to shape our energy future.
