Visit artist Alexander Toradze and the Stanford Symphony Orchestra led by Jindong Cai will collaborate on Prokofiev's Second Piano Concerto, which will be augmented by newly-commissioned puppetry by Robin Walsh. Toradze's famous interpretation the concerto challenges all other understandings of this enormous work, which he understands as a requiem for the composer's friend Maksimilian Shmitgoff, who had committed suicide.
